Spravato® (esketamine) nasal spray is FDA-approved for use alongside an oral antidepressant to treat adults with treatment-resistant depression (those who haven’t improved from other antidepressant medications) and adults with major depressive disorder with suicidal thoughts or actions. Due to risks of sedation, dissociation, and potential misuse, Spravato is available exclusively through a restricted distribution program under a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS).
